The Caps' road legs seemed to wear off too late as the team fought to post two goals in the third period, outscoring the Papermakers 2-0 in the final period of regulation. The setting could have been the background for Stompin' Tom Collins' song, "Good Old Hockey Games" music video. The first period went quick and left the Capitals shorthanded as they went into the locker room for the intermission down by a goal. Spirits were recharged during the break however as the Capitals posted 4 goals in the second period.
